Windjammers Immersive is an interactive, post-cinematic installation I developed for the South Australian Maritime Museum. It tells the stories of young Australian sailors embarking on adventure in the last days of the age of sail aboard the Windjammers – record-setting cutters that sailed from Adelaide, carrying wool and produce to Europe.

The installation subtly responds to the behaviour and movement of the audience in the exhibition space, by changing the environment and weather conditions, activating ship machinery, and enabling other interactive elements. Each of the interactive moments is taken directly from diaries, photographs and archival records of the sailors, making the installation a blend of history and future technologies.

Windjammers Immersive is currently showing at the South Australian Maritime Museum. Hear me speak about the installation below.
